A regional preliminary for the BUAA-BIT Global wrapped up at the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science & Industry Corp on Tuesday, attracting more than 70 groups of contestants to explore the potential for civil-military integration.
The competition, co-hosted by Beihang University, also named Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Beijing Institute of Technology, aims to support innovative teams from colleges and academies and promising high-tech startups in the fields of aerospace engineering, new material development, information technology, automotive engineering and , by connecting them with erudite experts, experienced entrepreneurs and shrewd investors.
The winners will be awarded a fund of 150 million yuan ($21.7 million) and a three-year rent-free period to further develop their projects and incubate the startups, according to Yang Wentao, CEO of Beihang Investment Co.Ltd.
The preliminary on Tuesday opened mainly for researchers from the second academy of CASIC to encourage its researchers and engineers give full play to their wisdom and innovation to make breakthroughs for China’s space industry.
